At Gibraltar Nursing Home, we understand the demands memory loss places both on people living with dementia and on their families. This is where our Household Model of Care comes in, by giving ownership of the home to the individuals who live there by putting them at the centre of each and every decision.
We use the residents life story to build a picture of their preferences, lifestyle, history, family, likes and dislikes. Our carers are trained in completing detailed care plans with the help of residents, their family and friends.

What is Residential Care?

Respite care is a temporary stay in a care home. Respite care can help you to get back on your feet after you’ve had a spell in hospital or you’re recovering from an illness. It’s also a good option when the carer goes on holiday or needs a short break from caring.
Sometimes taking a break from the usual routine can make a huge difference, both for carers and for those who are being cared for.
For carers, it’s important to know that your loved one is in a safe, comfortable, homely environment so that you can truly enjoy the break you so much deserve.
For the cared-for, a respite break provides the chance to ease that feeling of being a burden and to get away from the stresses of everyday life. Many people look on it as a short break.
