Gibraltar Nursing Home held a heart-warming Christmas Day celebration for residents, fondly referred to as family members and their relatives. Nestled in the picturesque town of Monmouth, South Wales, the home created a festive atmosphere for all.
In the spirit of the season, Gibraltar Nursing Home opened its doors on Christmas Day to relatives, inviting them to join in on the celebration. Family members and their relatives were treated to a delightful three-course Christmas meal along with wine and lager, prepared by the home’s restaurant, The Pillars. The menu featured popular favourites that capture the festive atmosphere, providing a dining experience. The day was filled with sounds of Christmas carols in the background, festive decorations, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects the love and care provided by the team members at the home.
Adding to the special occasion, the home was honoured to welcome the Deputy Mayor of Monmouth, David Evans, who happens to be the son-in-law of two of the residents at Gibraltar Nursing Home. He was accompanied by his wife and consort, Fiona Evans, for a festive lunch at The Pillars restaurant. Expressing his genuine delight, he shared, ‘I am grateful to the home for the opportunity to be together with family at Christmas. I also want to thank Verity for showing me round the home afterwards in my official capacity and introducing me to the rest of the family community. I am always struck by the friendly, family atmosphere whenever we visit. Each and every member of staff we meet give a warm greeting which reflects well on the home’. The festive visit of the Deputy Mayor was met with enthusiastic appreciation from everyone in attendance.
Home manager Verity excitedly shared, ‘honestly, it was the best Christmas day EVER. The atmosphere was amazing and we had nine tables booked – everyone was happy and in the Christmas Spirit. The Pillars restaurant was full of so much joy and all 30 relatives and family members smiled. It was such a feel-good day with visitors throughout the home, morning to night’.
